Momo Making: Tea, Momo and Cultural talks
Bhaktapur, Bagmati, Nepal
About this experience
Momo is the best food in the world after dal bhat, period.
Just kidding!
This is not a regular momo-making workshop with a chef standing over your shoulder. It's my kitchen, and you're part of it.
We start with tea or lemonade and real conversation, with no rush to get to the cooking. Then we split the work like a family would: someone chops, someone kneads, someone wraps, and we talk the whole way through.
We finish by eating what we made together, with time to talk about whatever you're curious about: Nepal, Thimi, or just life.
Good to know
What to bring
Casual, comfortable clothing (it's an indoor experience). Please tell us about any allergies in advance.
Highlights
- Cook momo hands-on, divided as a team, not a demonstration
- Taste what you made, together, in a real Nepali home
- Open conversation about Nepali culture and daily life, on your terms
Plan
Meet at Bisheshwor Temple and walk to my home
Welcome tea and introductions.
Make momo as a team: cut onions, knead dough, prepare the filling, wrap, and make the dipping sauce.
The momo cook for 15 to 20 minutes while we keep talking.
Sit down and eat what we made, with conversation about Nepal, Thimi, or just life.
We say goodbye and part ways.
